About Us
Church
We are a Protestant church located in New Westminister, British Columbia in Canada. Our church members range across all ages from infants to seniors. Our members are mostly of Japanese origin, but we also have Canadian, Korean, and Chinese members attending our church. Many international students from Japan attend our church and find Christ here in Canada.
Bible
There is a Japanese saying, “hyakubun wa ikken ni shikazu”, which means, “Hearing a hundered times is not as good as seeing once.” Similarly, Jesus called his disciples to his side and said, “Come, and you will see” (John 1:39).
Newcomers
Please feel free to make your way to our church. We pray for God’s blessing upon those who have come across our website.
Our Small Groups
Vancouver Japanese Gospel Church began as a second-generation Japanese Canadian church in the 1950s, and began Japanese-language ministries in 1962. It has been a member of Japan Christ Alliance Churches since 1984.
It stands on the evangelical belief that the Bible as the infallible Word of God and one can only be saved by accepting Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior. Our church is a body of Christ and a family of God, and we do worship , ministries, fellowships, education, and evangelism as the main activities of the church.
Every Sunday, worship services are held at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and Sunday school for children through adults is held at 9:45 a.m. And prayer meetings are held on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM, Fridays at 6:00 AM, and Saturdays at 7:00 AM.
In addition to small groups by age group, the church has an Kohitsuji Club (for infants), Worship Hula, Great Commission Group (Evangelism team), English conversation class, Japanese class, Korean class, Refugee Committee, VJGC Golf, and other groups that welcome newcomers to the church.
Church Family Camp is held every summer, and Gospel Night is held in the fall, deepening the fellowship of God’s family and spreading the gospel and discipleship training.
Our worship services consist of many people, from young children to seniors, international students, working holiday Visa holders, Japanese Canadians, non-Japanese, and families of international marriages.
We welcome Christians as well as non-Christians, and each member of the church strives to be a church where people of all ages and nationalities can experience warm family fellowship. Please feel free to come and visit us. We welcome you all!
